Have you ever wondered which program opened a specific file or directory? Now you can find it. The Process Explorer displays information about which handles and DLL processes have been opened or loaded.
The Process Explorer display consists of two sub windows. The top window always displays the list of currently active processes, including the names of their accounts. The information displayed in the bottom window depends on the mode of the process resource manager: if it is in handle mode, you will see that the handle selected by the process in the top window has been opened; If the Process Explorer is in DLL mode, you will see the DLLs and memory mapped files that the process has loaded. The process resource manager also has a powerful search function, which can quickly show which processes have opened specific handles or loaded DLL.
The unique features of Process Explorer can be used to track DLL version issues or deal with leaks, and gain insight into how Windows and applications work.
